We are small in number but big in success

In 1971 the Choughs entered their first competition at the Hammersmith Palais and emerged as National Champions, a title they have held every year, except two, until the present time.

In 1975 the International Championships were introduced, taking place every other year, again the Choughs retaining the title for every year but two.

The Wheelchair Dance Association, (WDA) the National body, was formed in 1974 with all teams having to observe rules etc. laid down by the controlling body. This body determines the category at which an individual dances by assessing their level of disability i.e. A, B, or C.

The Choughs have danced as an A team but now dance as a B team.

From humble beginnings with wheelchairs begged and borrowed, then fundraising for a matching set which served the team well for 15 years.

We are now proud owners of new matching lightweight wheelchairs.
